$1,000–$8,000. Common views: $1,000–$2,500. Key value factors: Inoue's Meiji-era Tokyo views, influenced by his teacher Kiyochika, have both artistic and historical value. His early death makes works scarce.
Myoken-ji Temple in Yanagishima — the district on the eastern bank of the Kyu-Nakagawa River in Honjo — was one of the Nichiren Buddhist temples that clustered in this area of the eastern lowlands. Yasuji depicts the temple within its urban neighborhood setting, the religious buildings framed by the commercial and residential streets of the surrounding district. The Yanagishima area was associated with the weaving and textile trades that characterized much of Honjo's economy, and the temple served the spiritual needs of this working community.
