Description
Lake and Waterfalls in woodblock — the finished printed version of the composition combining still water and falling water in a single landscape. The visual contrast between the lake's calm mirror surface and the waterfall's white turbulence creates the fundamental compositional tension of this subject, and Nisaburo's shin-hanga technique renders both with equal sensitivity: the subtle gradations of color in the lake's reflection and the foam and mist of the waterfall requiring very different technical approaches.
