Description
The station of Hara, with its famous view of Mount Fuji reflected in the roof tiles of the town's buildings — the volcano's perfect cone appearing in the glazed ceramic surfaces as a distorted, multiplied image rather than the single canonical view. Sekino's visual wit gives this Fuji view an original twist: the mountain seen through the medium of the town's own architecture, the ordinary made strange by the sacred's unexpected appearance.
