Description
The station of Miya — today the Atsuta district of Nagoya — appears in this undated print, the settlement defined by its position at the western terminus of the bay crossing to Kuwana and by the presence of the great Atsuta Shrine, one of the most important Shinto sanctuaries in Japan. The station's dual character as both a major religious center and a major transport node gave it unusual density and visual interest.
