LIght snow
Description
Light snow — not the heavy accumulation of Nishijima's deep-winter scenes but the first tentative fall, or a modest overnight dusting — transforms a traditional townscape with the delicate quality of barely-begun winter. The partial snowfall reveals the architectural structure more clearly than heavy accumulation would, letting the dark timber and tile show through even as the white begins to gather in corners and on roof ridges. This transitional winter condition, caught between autumn and full winter, is one of Nishijima's most atmospheric subjects.
