Description
A triptych depicting the medieval Battle of Nanba, one of the great conflicts of Japan's Sengoku period, rendered in Kyosai's characteristically charged style. Armored warriors clash across the three panels, their figures bristling with weapons and banners as the chaos of medieval warfare unfolds in vivid nishiki-e color. Kyosai drew on both his formal training in classical painting and his immersion in popular woodblock print traditions to create battle scenes that pulse with tension and historical drama.
