Description
One of three prints Hasui produced for the Inuyama Children's Fair (犬山こども博), held in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture. Inuyama is known for its original-structure castle above the Kiso River, and this design likely incorporates that landmark within a festive or celebratory composition. Commemorative prints issued for expositions and regional fairs were a distinct category within shin-hanga publishing, often combining landscape with decorative or thematic motifs. Hasui would have adapted his precise architectural rendering to include fair iconography while maintaining his characteristic treatment of sky and water. The Kiso River at Inuyama, with its riverine scenery, provided material consistent with Hasui's established visual language.
