A second impression of Hasui's Sanzen-in moonlight composition, with possible variations in the blue gradation of the night sky compared to other recorded examples. Sanzen-in in Ohara was a recurring destination for artists and photographers seeking the atmosphere of ancient Buddhist architecture surrounded by forest and mountain terrain. Hasui would have sketched the site on location and translated those studies into the multiple-block woodblock format under Watanabe Shozaburo's guidance, with final color decisions made collaboratively with the carver and printer. The precision of the moon disc (if present) and the consistency of the blue-black ink saturation across the sky area are useful indicators in comparing impressions.
