This is a commemorative woodblock print produced for the Nagano Communications Exhibition (長野逓信展), a regional postal and telecommunications exposition. Hasui designed several such exhibition prints on commission, and this second variant likely represents a different compositional treatment of the same event or a reissue with revised printing. These commissions typically feature a prominent local landmark—in Nagano's case potentially Zenko-ji temple or the surrounding mountain landscape—rendered in Hasui's [meisho-e](/glossary/meisho-e) tradition. The prints served as souvenirs for exhibition visitors and demonstrate the continued demand for [shin-hanga](/glossary/shin-hanga) imagery in official and commercial promotional contexts during the early Showa period.
