The subtitle 大泉水の全景 — 'full view of the great pond' — identifies this as the main strolling garden of the Kyu-Iwasaki-tei estate in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, built for the Mitsubishi founding family in the Meiji period. Hasui's composition stretches across the broad reflective surface of the garden pond, with mature trees and shrubbery disposed along the far bank. Soft bokashi gradations in the sky and water suggest a particular hour or season, likely early spring or autumn. This is one of at least four impressions or states of this design in the Hanga catalogue, likely differing in block wear, color mixing, or print run. The composition is typical of Hasui's garden views: a low horizon, expansive sky, and still water as a secondary picture plane.
