Description
A nude female figure, this print belongs to a subset of Takasawa's work that pushed the bijin-ga tradition toward more direct bodily representation. Working within the sosaku-hanga spirit of personal expression, he approached the nude with the same formal attentiveness he brought to clothed subjects — interested in the interplay of light and contour, and in the dignity latent in the unguarded figure. The woodblock medium softens the image, lending it warmth rather than starkness.
