The Souvenirs of Travel series (First, Second, and Third Series, 1919–1922) represents Hasui's earliest major publishing relationship with Watanabe Shozaburo. Pre-earthquake impressions (before September 1923) are the rarest — the Kanto Earthquake destroyed Watanabe's workshop and most original blocks, making surviving early round-seal impressions exceptionally valuable at $2,500–$8,000. Post-earthquake editions were printed from recut blocks and trade at lower prices.
Arifuku Spa in Iwami, from the Souvenirs of Travel, Third Series published in 1924, depicts the Arifuku Onsen hot spring resort in the Iwami region of present-day Shimane Prefecture — a mountainside spa in the San'in interior whose waters flow into a dramatic rock gorge. The Nude tag indicates this composition likely includes a figure at the outdoor hot spring, one of Hasui's rare figure subjects. The Third Series' documentation of the San'in coast and its mountain interior brought Hasui to this remote Iwami spa, and the nude figure in the traditional rotenburo setting combined the spa's natural setting with the intimate human subject.
