Description
A close-up profile portrait of a kabuki actor's face, shown in three-quarter view against a mottled gold ground. The figure has stark white face makeup with exaggerated black brows, red-rimmed eyes, and a topknot hairstyle shaded silver-grey and black, and wears a pink robe over a black garment with a red-and-white patterned collar band, one hand raised toward the chin with fingers curled. Two small red seal marks appear in the upper left corner; the composition is tightly cropped and graphic, with flat areas of pink, black, and cream against the gold background.
