Dated 1930, this earlier print of Toji's five-story pagoda represents one of Kotozuka's first treatments of this quintessential Kyoto landmark. The 1930 date places it among his earliest career work, and comparing it with later versions of the same subject would document the development of his woodblock technique over the following decades.
