This second variant of Nomura's Yasaka Pagoda subject shares its compositional subject with the other versions in the group while likely differing in seasonal treatment, viewpoint, or atmospheric conditions. The pagoda of Hokanji Temple invites varied interpretation across seasons: cherry blossoms or spring haze in the fourth month, deep summer greens, autumn maple color, or winter snow accumulating on the five horizontal eaves. Publishers and designers frequently returned to canonical Kyoto sites to offer collectors alternative views or seasonal complements within a set. In this version, differences in the sky gradation, the color of surrounding vegetation, or the angle of view situate the image in a specific seasonal or temporal context distinguishable from its counterparts. The carver's rendering of the pagoda's structural details — the bracketing, the upswept corners of each roof, the finial — would be consistent across versions, as the keyblock design may have been reused with different color block printing.
