Description
A single antlered stag stands in profile on a rocky mountain ledge, its body angled away from the viewer while its head turns back over its shoulder. Its brown coat is covered in pale spotted markings, with a bright white patch on the rump and belly, set against grey, angular mountain slopes and a pale orange-to-grey dusk sky. The composition is vertical and spare, with the deer placed low and right against the towering rock face above. Ohara Koson, "Deer on a Mountain Ledge at Dusk," 1910, woodcut on paper.
