$1,000–$8,000. Common subjects: $1,000–$2,500. Key value factors: Hashimoto's bold castle prints are his most recognizable and collected works. Larger formats command premiums.
Morning Haze, Osaka Castle, printed in 1956 in an edition of two, presents Japan's most famous castle in the atmospheric condition of early morning mist — when the castle's stone foundations and lower walls disappear into the haze and the upper tiers of the donjon appear to float above the ground. This rare edition of only two prints indicates an exceptionally intimate production, possibly made as gifts or demonstration pieces. Osaka Castle, rebuilt in the 1930s after repeated destruction by fire and war, was a symbol of civic pride and historical continuity for the city.
