The title frames the subject as a prospect or panorama, suggesting a wider compositional scope than the more intimate gorge-level views of the companion prints. Koichi may position the viewer on an elevated path or temple terrace looking down across the valley, where the autumn maples form a continuous canopy of warm color below.
