"The Rock of Jokadj, Ponape, East Carolines" edition 148 of 150 — an alternate printing or variant of his 1936 Pohnpei landscape, this time with an English title and near the very end of the limited edition. The near-complete edition number suggests this impression was among the last produced for this print, and the English titling indicates the collector for whom this printing was likely produced. The Pohnpei rock formations — volcanic basalt rising from the Pacific — were among the Pacific's most dramatic natural subjects.
