Description
A stylized child's profile faces a large black cat in extreme close-up, their features nearly touching; the child's hair is rendered as thick black-and-white vertical stripes, with a single almond-shaped eye and a gray-toned face and shoulder. The cat fills the right side of the composition in solid black with a white-outlined ear, a circular eye, and long white whiskers, set against a plain pale ground. "Black Cat," a color woodblock print by Saito Kiyoshi, 1960, rendered in a flat, graphic palette of black, white, and gray.
