Description
A black silhouetted horse-drawn cart with a thatched, fan-shaped canopy and two large spoked wheels dominates the foreground against a mottled grey ground; a white horse, rendered only in outline, bends to graze within a black rectangular window-like frame at the cart's center, its head and neck the only pale forms breaking the dark composition. Thin dark poles or shafts rise at the right edge, and the artist's signature and a small red seal appear at upper left. Woodblock print, "Hokkaidô B [Horse and Plow]," Shôwa period, dated 1961, by Saito Kiyoshi.
