Description
Mount Fuji rendered in the deep vermillion of late-afternoon light — a bold chromatic declaration from an artist who generally preferred the muted, graphic restraint of his city work. The numbered "(8)" suggests this is part of a series of Fuji studies in which Ono explored the mountain's formal possibilities through different color states. The "red" Fuji has long resonance in Japanese art from Hokusai onward; Ono's version flattens the chromatic drama into something more declarative than romantic.
