Description

A bridge arcs across the picture plane against a luminous yellow sky, its dark silhouette anchoring a cluster of rooftops below. The saturated, unmodulated background recalls both the bold inking of traditional woodblock and the poster-like flatness of mid-century graphic design. Ono made this kind of urban vignette his signature — snapshot views of the built environment seen with the economy of a skilled draftsman who has internalized his subject completely.
