Description
Mount Fuji rendered in white — the mountain in winter or seen through the bleaching light of a high-altitude view, its snow-covered flanks a luminous counterpoint to a darker sky. Part of a numbered Fuji series, "White Fuji 8" likely explores the mountain as near-abstract shape: a white triangle against a contrasting ground, stripped of detail, depending on outline and the quality of the surrounding color field for its impact. The minimal palette is characteristic of Ono at his most formally severe.
