A print depicting Shichirigahama Beach in Sagami Province (present-day Kanagawa Prefecture) — one of the scenic Pacific coast beaches accessible from Tokyo that became popular recreational destinations in the Meiji period as railways expanded and leisure travel became more accessible. Shichirigahama's long, sweeping beach and its views of Fuji across the bay made it a celebrated landscape subject with a long history in Japanese art. Chikanobu's version would combine topographic accuracy with the atmospheric rendering of coastal scenery.
