Koitsu's daytime landscapes and non-nocturnal scenes are less common on the primary market but still reflect his mastery of atmosphere and color. Values have risen steadily over the past decade.
Lake Hakone (Ashi) sits in the caldera of the Hakone volcanic complex, its clear waters reflecting Mount Fuji on calm days and offering a dramatic foreground to the mountain's profile. Koitsu renders the lake at a moment of atmospheric transition, the [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) sky suggesting approaching weather, the still water catching the pale light. Hakone's position as a post town on the Tokaido made it one of the most visited landscapes in Japan even before its emergence as a modern resort destination.
