Koitsu's daytime landscapes and non-nocturnal scenes are less common on the primary market but still reflect his mastery of atmosphere and color. Values have risen steadily over the past decade.
Kiyomizudo in Ueno Park is a small octagonal hall modeled on Kyoto's famous Kiyomizudera, built in the early seventeenth century by the temple complex of Kan'eiji. From its modest stage above Shinobazu Pond, the hall commanded a view similar to Kyoto's great cliff-top temple, making it a miniature sacred duplicate in the heart of old Edo. Koitsu renders the approach to the hall — its stone steps, paper lanterns, and the latticed eaves of the hall itself — in the intimate atmospheric mode he favored for smaller sacred structures.
