Description

A samurai in armor with a sword at his hip climbs a dark, jagged rock face, gripping the stone edge with one hand as he peers downward; his blue-and-white patterned undergarment billows around his legs against the rock. Below him, a large pale pink moon glows through silhouetted grass and thin branches that hang across the composition, set against a blue-gray sky that darkens toward the horizon. Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's 1885 woodblock print "Inaba Mountain Moon" carries a title cartouche and text panel in the upper right and a red seal in the lower right.
