Description
A woman with long, loose black hair sits in a small grey boat on choppy turquoise water, holding a shamisen and pressing one hand to her cheek in a pensive gesture. She wears a black kimono patterned with small motifs and a red and blue under-robe with a tasseled sash; white foam curls along the waves around the boat. The composition is dominated by cool blue-greens against the cream background, with vertical columns of Japanese text at the upper right; this woodblock print, "Reflected Moonlight," was made by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi in 1886.
