Description
A woman with dark hair swept up and pinned with ornamental combs stands beside a window frame, her face and eyes turned downward in a quiet, introspective pose. She wears a sage-green kimono trimmed with white fur or feathers at the collar, layered over a red inner garment patterned with small blue floral motifs, the sash wrapping loosely across her shoulder and arm. The composition is set against a plain pale ground with the window's straight vertical line at her side, and a red artist's seal and inscription appear in the upper left corner. Uemura Shōen rendered the piece in Nihonga mineral pigments on silk.
