Description
Man Devoted to Mountains (山にころ男) announces in its Japanese subtitle the absolute nature of the devotion—not a man who enjoys mountains, but one entirely given over to them, the mountain as total world rather than recreational destination. Azechi himself was this figure: a man for whom the alpine environment was not a hobby but a fundamental condition of existence, the mountains informing every aspect of his artistic vision across a career spanning nearly seven decades of printmaking.
