Description
Mountaineer Number 3—the third in a numbered series of mountaineer figure studies—continues Azechi's systematic exploration of his primary subject from multiple compositional and posture angles. The numbered series approach allowed him to build a comprehensive visual document of the mountain man in different conditions and attitudes, each number adding to the collective portrait without committing any single image to be the definitive statement of what the mountaineer essentially is.
