Description
A stylized frontal figure fills the composition against a dark blue-grey ground: a red bird with a white eye perches atop a pale, mask-like face with two large white almond eyes, a dark brown wedge nose, and a black-and-red radiating beard or collar. The figure's body is rendered as a teal, vase-like or armless torso with two oval cutouts, set on a narrow neck banded in brown, with pale wing- or drapery-like shapes flanking it. Bold flat color areas, thick black outlines, and a symmetrical, totemic composition give the print a graphic, mask-like quality; it is signed in pencil and numbered 9/100 below the image, consistent with the woodblock print medium.
