Description
Unknown Sunbaking—a figure at rest in sunlight, warming themselves in the mountain sun—shows Azechi's climber in the particular pleasure of alpine sunshine after cold, the body turned toward the warmth with the same instinctive directness that flowers turn toward light. Sunbaking in the mountain context was a specific pleasure: the air still cold enough to require clothing, but the sun's direct radiation warm enough to penetrate it, creating the unique thermal experience of mountain solar warmth in cold air.
