Jōruri-ji in Yamashiro Province — a Heian-period temple preserving a rare nine-Buddha Amida Hall and a three-story pagoda — is here depicted through its pagoda, the tower rising among the ancient precincts. Hiratsuka's 1960 woodblock, ink on paper, renders the pagoda with structural precision, its weathered timber and stone base conveying the centuries of seasonal change it has endured.
