The Shōsō-in repository at Tōdai-ji — the 8th-century imperial treasury — is here presented in an earlier version of a subject Hiratsuka returned to multiple times. The 1953 woodblock renders the azekura log-cabin construction of the treasury building with the structural clarity that defines his architectural documentation. The Shōsō-in's raised floor construction and distinctive log-wall system are captured in his bold, direct carving.
