Description

Senshu Sakai, the port city at the mouth of Osaka Bay, was famous for its ancient pine tree at Naniwa-ya — a landmark tree whose aged form and coastal setting had made it the subject of poetry for centuries. This print from the "One Hundred Famous Views of the Provinces" shows the pine in its harbor setting, the flat Osaka Bay spreading out behind it under open sky.
