Description

A woman in a straw conical hat and dark polka-dot kimono crouches at the entrance of a wooden farmhouse, an infant in blue strapped to her back; two young children in patterned kimonos crouch on the earthen floor in front of her, playing with small objects. The interior, rendered in muted grays and browns, shows a smoking stove, hanging tools, and stacked barrels and baskets, while a bicycle with a green seat leans just inside the doorway; rows of footwear are lined up near the threshold. In the foreground right, a flowering shrub with pink and yellow blossoms grows beside the entrance; the print bears a red seal and the artist's signature at right.
