Description
An open book lies against a black background, its two facing pages printed in indigo. The left page, on cream, deckle-edged paper, bears a network of thin branching lines resembling roots or cracks radiating from the lower edge upward; the right page is saturated in dark indigo with a dense, mottled scatter of lighter blue-green speckling, its worn, deckled edge visible along the bottom and right. Sample Book IV, by Yuko Kimura (2016), is an etching and aquatint in indigo pigment worked onto worm-eaten Japanese book pages and handmade abaca, gampi, and kozo paper, bound with paper thread and shifu.
