"Oonuma Koen kara Koma-ga-take" (View of Mt. Komagatake from Oonuma Park) presents the caldera lake of Oonuma in Hokkaido — a park area of exceptional natural beauty, with multiple linked lakes reflecting the volcanic peak of Komagatake (1,131 meters) and the forested island chains that dot the lake surface. The view from Oonuma Park across the water to Komagatake was one of Hokkaido's celebrated landscapes — the northern island's combination of volcanic peaks and pristine water creating landscapes quite different in character from the main island's more cultivated scenery.
