Description
A second plum-season [bijin-ga](/glossary/bijin-ga) from Eiho's series, differentiated from its companions by compositional angle, costume palette, or the specific setting in which the figure encounters the flowering tree. Plum blossom prints presented technical challenges that distinguished skilled publishers: the white or pale pink petals required either reserve printing (leaving unpigmented paper to read as blossom) or delicate overprinting of near-white pigments, both demanding precise block registration. Eiho's figure in this variant likely occupies a different spatial relationship to the blossoms than in the first or third design, creating visual contrast across the set while maintaining seasonal and thematic coherence.
