Description
An untitled print from Ishiwata Koitsu's production, rendered in the atmospheric woodblock technique of the shin-hanga movement. The absence of a recorded title should not obscure the care that went into this print's creation: the publisher's selection of the subject, the designer's compositional decisions, the carver's precise cutting, and the printer's controlled inking together produced an object of refined craft and atmospheric sensitivity, whatever the specific scene it depicts.
