Description
A two-story temple gate with a vermillion-and-black tiled roof dominates the composition, its upper balcony railing visible above a lower colonnade, with pine and broadleaf trees framing the scene and pigeons scattered in flight and on the eaves. In the foreground courtyard, a stone lantern stands beside a large tree trunk; a woman in a purple kimono and a child in pink stand near it while another seated figure and a woman with a child in blue appear further back on the stone paving. This woodblock print by Ishiwata Koitsu renders the scene in muted oranges, greens, and grays under a pale blue sky with soft white clouds.
