Description
A second impression of the Pastel Fuji design, this state may differ from the first in sky gradation, the depth of blue-grey in the snow fields, or the precision of the horizon line where Fuji's slopes meet the surrounding terrain. Hasui's Fuji compositions typically position the peak as a compositional anchor — centered or offset — within a landscape that supplies foreground interest through water, trees, or distant settlement. In this muted-palette treatment, the technical demand falls primarily on the sky and mountain blocks, where the printer's control of pigment dilution and paper moisture directly determines the softness of tonal transition. This impression belongs to a group of three catalogued states that together document the print's production history.
