This second depiction of Tamiya Village in Saitama Prefecture likely presents the same rural locality under different seasonal or atmospheric conditions than its companion print. Hasui's return visits to specific locations allowed him to explore how shifting light, snow cover, or leafy summer growth transforms the character of a place rather than simply its appearance. In the Kanto agricultural landscape, winter compositions typically feature bare persimmon trees, frozen paddies, and low raking light, while summer equivalents emphasize dense foliage and humid atmospheric haze. The two Tamiya prints together demonstrate the shin-hanga movement's interest in landscape as a record of temporal change rather than fixed geography. Both would employ the careful multi-block printing on dampened washi characteristic of Watanabe Shozaburo's workshop production.
