Description
Tsuchizaki in Akita is a port district at the mouth of the Omono River on the Sea of Japan coast, the fishing harbor and wooden warehouses of the town's shore visible from the water. This 1928 print from the Souvenirs of Travel, Third Series likely shows the harbor in a quiet season, the flat Sea of Japan coast of Akita providing the wide-sky, low-horizon composition Hasui favored for northern Japan's less dramatic coastlines.
