#4 Sukiya Bridge at Night (To be Sold as a Complete Set of 6)

Snow and night scenes traditionally command higher prices. Key value factors: As self-carved and self-printed works, sosaku-hanga value is tied to the artist's reputation and edition size. Larger formats, earlier editions, and historically significant works command the highest prices.
The Sukiya Bridge (Sukiyabashi) crossing the outer moat of Edo Castle in Ginza — later demolished to build the expressway in the 1960s but immortalized in Audrey Hepburn's film "My Fair Lady" and countless literary references — appears at night in the fourth print of this set of six. The bridge at night, with the moat water reflecting the surrounding lights, was one of Ginza's most atmospheric views, the elegant span connecting the commercial district to the government quarter across the dark water.
