Description
The Tosabori River runs through the heart of Osaka's business district, its embankments lined with the office buildings and banks that made Osaka Japan's commercial capital. Kazuma depicts the river as an urban subject: the built embankments framing the water, bridges crossing at regular intervals, the city's working life visible on both banks. The river's calm surface provides the reflective plane that he used throughout his career to double and deepen urban compositions, the reflected building facades creating an inverted city below the real one.
