The second print in the set shifts to a nighttime exterior of Shinbashi, the commercial and entertainment district in central Tokyo that bordered the Ginza. Oda renders electric streetlights and illuminated storefronts against a dark ground, a compositional strategy that foregrounds Japan's rapid electrification as visual subject matter. Figures move along the street or pause under awnings, their silhouettes and partial illumination giving the scene documentary immediacy. [Bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) gradation in the sky likely transitions from deep indigo to a warmer tone near light sources. The series progresses through a single evening's Tokyo circuit, and Shinbashi functions as an early stop before the later Ginza subjects.
