Description
Six white egrets cluster together in falling snow, two with necks raised and craned to the right while the others tuck or lower their heads among the group's rounded, overlapping bodies. Their long yellow bills, dark thin legs, and pale gray-green eyes stand out against soft white plumage rendered with fine linear feather strokes, all set against a graduated blue-gray ground scattered with white snow dots that darkens toward navy at the bottom edge. A red seal and the artist's signature appear in the lower left; this is Ohara Koson's "Egrets in the Snow," a Japanese color woodblock print from 1927.
